Mission Statement
The South County Environmental Justice Coalition is a community-based organization committed to climate and environmental equity, with an emphasis on diversity and inclusion. Our mission is to educate and protect residents by advocating for equitable environmental considerations in infrastructure and other developmental projects to ensure constituents health, safety, and overall well-being.
Our Work
The South County Environmental Justice Coalition (SCEJC) is a grassroots alliance, comprised of leaders from Homeowners’ Associations (HOAs), Social Justice, and Civic associations, committed to advancing climate and environmental equity through education, advocacy, and inclusive community engagement. Centered in Prince George’s County, our work addresses the disproportionate environmental burdens faced by historically excluded communities. While rooted locally, our mission resonates statewide, challenging infrastructure and development policies that endanger health, safety, and sustainability across Maryland. We champion diverse leadership and equitable solutions that serve as a model for just climate action throughout the state.
